Hidden Ritual [Austin]
The quartet Hidden Ritual has been described as “desert goth” because of their propulsive, melancholic songs reminiscent of pre-Kiss Me-era Cure or early Chills or Josef K. This week they release a new tape, ZEBRA BOTTLE, via Monofonus Press. The Austin Jukebox logo and the poster for this show was designed by their singer/guitarist Jaime Zuverza (Jaime Zuverza Art).
Gavin Russom [NYC]
Gavin Russom wears several hats as musician, artist, producer & tinker. He also performs as/with The Crystal Ark, Black Meteoric Star & other DFA Records-associated artists. Some of you may know of him as a guest tour keyboardist/percussionist with LCD Soundsystem. He is called by many “The Wizard” for his work with analog synthesizers including building ones for members of Black Dice, LCD Soundsystem, UNKLE & many others. Regarding his upcoming performance, he says: “This Friday I’m bringing a very special session to Austin. Exploratory sounds off the grid and into the realm of deep synthesis. Somewhat similar to my Hail of Arrows project but with an ear to influences of out-jazz, noise, free-form electronics and avant-garde rock.”

Austin’s monolithic one-man krautrock assault, a noisy psychedelic sludgy jungle that can only be a Lovecraftian John the Baptist heralding the Old Ones. Quttinirpaaq is Matt Turner, also a member of the legendary Texas psychedelic band ST 37; he will be accompanied by J.T. Whitfield, Daniel Hipólito (Smokey Emery) and Justin Fritsche (Grandpa Lies Again; Patient OT).
