Boxhead Ensemble is a revolving musical ensemble that was formed in 1991 by sole consistent member Michael Krassner. The project revolves around recording music for films, including The Original Pantry Cafe, Dutch Harbor, The Unseen Hand, Here, and more. Beginning in the early 2000s, Krassner shifted Boxhead Ensemble’s focus slightly to include tracking normal studio albums (i.e. albums not strictly intended for use in films). Musically, Boxhead Ensemble tends to veer into the realms of post-rock and ambient experimental to create vast sonic landscapes.
